Webster to Host Men’s Basketball Conference Tournament

Webster hosts SLIAC men’s basketball tournament after winning regular season.

(Webster Groves, MO February 23) Tune in Friday and Saturday as Webster University hosts the SLIAC men’s basketball conference tournament in Grant Gymnasium with the tournament champion getting an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III tournament.

The first game will take place Friday at 6:00pm CT as the third-seeded MacMurray Highlanders take on the second-seeded Westminster Blue Jays. The Highlanders and Blue Jays split the season series with each team winning on the road. Westminster won the first match up 80-71 with Jake Vislay and Justin Gilmore each scoring 16 points for the Blue Jays while CJ McClellan led all scorers with 23 points for the Highlanders.  MacMurray won the second game 66-62, being led by McClellan and Dylan Burton with 14 points each while Kelsey Weymuth led the Blue Jays with 16 points.

The fourth-seeded Greenville Panthers will take on the number one seed Webster Gorloks in the second game at 8:00CT. The Gorloks won both games in the regular season with Nick Jones leading them in scoring with 16 points in the first game and Cody Bradfisch leading the Webster with 15 points in the second match up. KJ Hilliard led Greenville in the first game with 12 points and Obinna Agomo scored 16 in the second game.

Friday’s coverage will begin at 5:50CT on The Galaxy followed by tip off of the first game at 6:00. The winners of each game will play in the championship game at 7:00 on Saturday in Grant Gymnasium with coverage on The Galaxy beginning at 6:50CT.
